JEFA Program
JEFA, an abbreviation for “Justice and Equality for All” was the legacy of Herbert Stanley Groves, who fought for the betterment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders through access to education and opportunities for employment and overall advancement of Indigenous Australians.
To honour this legacy GJK Indigenous Solutions JEFA Program was developed to provide Indigenous people education and employment opportunities.
"I was left two alternatives—fight it, or give up. I chose to fight."
- Herbert Groves
The program consists of three main pillars:-
“Employ Our People”
As a business GJK Indigenous Solution is committed to providing local employment opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in communities where we are awarded Government and Commercial contracts.
“Engage Our People”
We individually target what the program candidate wants from their time with GJK Indigenous Solutions to give them a better sense of belonging with GJK and achieving their goals whilst in the program.
“Empower Our People”
All candidates are placed into a Certificate 3 in Cleaning Operations which empowers each candidate to become more than just a cleaner it also entitles them to an opportunity for advancement within the company upon completion.
Program Overview
In alliance with the JEFA Program our aim is to break through the socio-economic barriers to employment for Indigenous Australians by providing real and sustainable opportunities for advancement.
GJK Indigenous Solutions acknowledges the Traditional Owners and ongoing custodians of the Australian land – the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
